We extend a most hearty welcome to Marienburg Castle!
Marienburg Castle, located between Hanover and Hildesheim, rises up majestically like a fairy-tale castle from the gentle hills surrounding the valley of the River Leine. The former summer residence of the Royal House of Guelph was originally a birthday present from the last King of Hanover, King George V, to his wife Queen Marie.
Nowadays, the Castle is considered to be one of the most important and impressive neo-Gothic buildings in Germany, and has become a popular tourist destination in southern Lower Saxony.
Guided tours allow visitors to view the interior of Marienburg Castle and to obtain a vivid impression of life at the royal court in the latter years of the 19th century.
Special tours, including tours for children and dramatised tours, place a particular emphasis on certain aspects. And if all this culture has made you hungry, you will find the Schloss Restaurant is just the place for you.
Whether for a full à la carte meal, for coffee and cakes in the afternoon, for Sunday brunch or for a thematic buffet on Friday evening, the kitchen can always conjure up good hearty fare from fresh produce, and garnish it with more than just a touch of imagination.
And it goes without saying that the restaurant rooms can also be booked for private parties, weddings or conferences. During the summer months, selected historic rooms in the Castle itself can also be booked for private events. The romantic Castle Chapel is available for church weddings and the Castle's Green Salon for civil marriages.
And since Queen Marie always imagined her "Eldorado" as being a home for art, culture and literature, the range of events is rounded off by a wide variety of concerts. A browse through our website is sure to give you some ideas!
